—> what do we do?
Autonomiyaki is a technology integration business that provides smart home solutions for people living with disabilities, their families, and primary carers.
We aim to address the specific needs of people living with disabilities, building capacity and promoting independence while prioritising functionalities that may seem routine to those living without disability but are crucial for enhancing the quality of life for others.
We work with a range of clients including those living with physical disability, cognitive and intellectual disability, blind and vision impaired, Deaf and hard of hearing, Deafblind, Autism and neurodivergence.
Seniors and their families can also benefit from solutions which provide remote reassurance and visibility, along with home safeguarding and hazard mitigation helping alleviate carer strain, prevent burnout, and make long-term care more sustainable.
—> why the name?
Autonomiyaki is a play on words, a mash-up of autonomy and okonomiyaki.
One is a state of being independent, free, and self-directing,
the other, is a savoury pancake made of ingredients that you like,
simple, delicious and greater than the sum of its parts.
We think this captures our ethos perfectly.
—> who are we?
My name is Chris and disability is close to my heart. I’m the proud Dad of two kids, both living with disabilities, a connective tissue disorder and a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder. One attends a mainstream school the other a Special Developmental School.
I’m acutely aware of what it means to be a carer and this lived experience helps with bringing a level of understanding and care to the complex situations many families and individuals living with disabilities face every day.
I’m passionate about making a difference and empowering people living with disability and their families. I’m a big believer in education and knowledge sharing so training and tuition will always be offered to those interested.
